Transmitter Site Facilities
For many reasons, including antenna coverage, zoning, and space requirements, the best location for the transmitting antenna for a radio or television station is often different from the preferred location for the studio facilities, where convenience of access and other considerations may be more important. In that case, the transmitter and antenna will usually be located at a separate site, with the program feed provided by a studio-transmitter link. On occasions, it may be possible for the transmitter equipment and antenna to share the same site as the studios, in which case the studios and transmitter facilities are said to be co-sited.
