A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO COACHING

Typically, what is found in the mainstream practice of coaching is what we would call a transactional approach and methodology. This means, as a client, if you do not like the results you are getting, your coach would work with you to identify new actions you need to take in order to produce your objectives. For example, John, the client, hires a coach to learn how to speak better in front of groups. A purely transactional approach would be for the coach to identify what action steps John could take, such as reading related books and articles, attending speaking classes, or joining the National Speakers Association or Toastmasters.
