Definition

The root is a bone object that tells the game where the character is in the world. The location of the root and the character’s actual location are two different things. We create the root by adding a new bone and parenting the deformation skeleton to it. This bone is then either animated to follow the character’s motion or the character is animated in place and the game engine transforms the root, as well as the rest of the character.
