Chapter 5. Connection management 127
Connection attempt time-out
This is the number of seconds allowed before an attempt to set up and initialize a
connection is abandoned. The default is set to 120 seconds.
Disconnection attempt time-out
This is the number of seconds allowed before an attempt to properly clean up
and disconnect a connection is abandoned. The default is set to 120 seconds.
Only allow single connection for each user ID
This determines whether a user ID can be used more than once simultaneously.
Select this option when your host application allows only a single logon per user
ID, as is the case with most 3270-type applications. Deselect this option if your
system allows a user ID to connect multiple times simultaneously to one
application.
Enable Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) support
Select this option if you want to encrypt data flowing on the TN3270 connection
between the WebSphere Application Server and the TN3270 server. SSL
support includes receiving a certificate from the server and verifying that the
certificate was issued by a trusted certificate authority. For more details about
SSL, see Chapter 22, Securing host connections on page 689.
Enable SSL server authentication
In addition, when selecting SSL server authentication, it will be checked that the
owner name field in the certificate matches the server host name or IP address.
5.2.5 User List Configuration
The User List Configuration panel is used to select a list of user IDs that
connections from this pool (or from any other pool, if the user list being created
for this connection pool is selected as user list for that other pool) can use to log
on to the host application when executing the Connect macro. You may either
select an existing user list or click New to start creating a new user list. When
creating a new user list, you will be guided through a sequence of panels to
provide a name for the list and to define the first user. Then you will be returned
to the User List Configuration panel (see Figure 5-5 below, and Figure 5-6 on
page 128).

To remove an ID from the list, select it and click Delete. If you remove all user IDs
from a list, the list is deleted. Before deleting a list, make sure that the list is not
used by other connection pools.
To change the description or password for a user ID, select it and click Edit.
