142 IBM WebSphere Host Publisher Version 3.5
The logoff file (Figure 5-19 on page 141) contains the Disconnect macro that is
executed directly before a connection is disconnected in order to properly leave
the host connection.

The checkin file (Figure 5-20) contains a description of the screen from which the
Data macro can be executed. If an Integration Object returns a connection to the
connection pool in a state different from that in the screen described here, the
connection is not usable for other Integration Objects and hence removed from
the pool and disconnected.
5.4 Monitoring connection pools
Host Publisher Administration offers display and some restricted update
possibilities to monitor the status of connections, connection pools, and user
lists.
To access Server Administration, load the following URL in your browser (where
server is your server computer name):
http://server/HostPublisher/HPAdmin/main.jsp
For more details about Host Publisher Administration, see Chapter 4,
Administration on page 69.
5.4.1 Displaying connection pools
Selecting Administration -> Connection Pools in Host Publisher Administration
provides a display of connection pools. Listed are those connection pools that
have at least one active connection. Pools that are not currently used by any
application are not included in the list.

Figure 5-21 Connection Pools display
For every active connection pool, the display shows:
򐂰 The number of connections that are currently established (active).
򐂰 The number of connections that are currently in use.
A connection is in use either if an Integration Object has acquired it to retrieve
data from a host application, or if the connection is reserved for a session and
waiting for a response from the Web user. In Figure 5-21, two connections of the
pool as400_itso are active and none is in use at this point of time. Shown are:
򐂰 The number of connections that are idle, that is, that have been released by
their application and are correctly initialized.
򐂰 The number of connections that are established, not in use, but are unusable,
for whatever reason.
