Understanding the Theory of Industrial Culture

Key Idea: Always keep in mind that you are not creating a new business culture for fun or as a social experiment. You are creating a new industrial culture because you have the expectation that it will lead to improved business performance. If you are not able to understand the relevance of any cultural activity as it applies to your business and to your people, then you should wait or proceed slowly until you do understand it or until you have rejected it in favor of some alternative activity.
