A lot of papers in the energy-growth nexus have been entitled with this approach and claim to be using the vector error correction method approach. This approach is not used alone, and although it is mostly centered on short-term causality discussions, it gives the impression that it can be used alone in the energy-growth nexus literature. However, the truth is not as such, and the method is used in complementarity with VAR formulations and other cointegration analyses.
