According to the old adage (as if there are any new adages), your life can’t go according to plan if you have no plan. Without an estate plan, state law determines who receives your property and who is in charge of settling your affairs. In addition, the administration of your estate can be needlessly complicated without a proper estate plan. With that complication comes increased costs. Proper estate planning, however, can give you control over your affairs while you are living as well as after your death.
