Sustainable economic models: Portico

Abstract.
Portico, like many of the other projects referred to in this handbook – and the case studies in particular – relies on cooperation and balance between the key stakeholders to work. Sustainable projects need to take account of the free-rider problem and this case study shows one way of doing this. The emphasis is on flexibility with particular reference to the business models chosen, which differ depending upon the product or service.
