CHAPTER 5Work Processes: How the Work Gets Done

In this chapter the discussion turns from work inputs to work processes—the systems and procedures for accomplishing work and producing outputs. Position classification is used to identify the common activities for a group of positions with the same title, while job analysis links competencies to the critical activities. To understand what inputs are needed, we must understand what activities are to be performed.
