5. Autofocus Area Modes

A closer look at the area modes and when to use them

In the previous chapter, we looked at the individual autofocus points. In this chapter, you will learn about using multiple AF points at the same time. By setting the autofocus area mode or AF area mode on your camera, you can determine how many autofocus points to use for your shot. You can use a single AF point, all the points, or just a selected group of points. The right autofocus area mode can help you focus on the subject, but using the wrong mode can make for a very frustrating experience.
