News generally refers to everyday assignments that are planned or organized in advance, such as protests, court hearings, and awareness rallies, and within general news documentation are many sub-categories, such as feature, sports, and portraits. These topic areas can be quite diverse, requiring a photographer to be well versed in many subjects, but they can also be rewarding in that one assignment is visually and editorially different from another.
