Customizing GNOME
This section covers four ways of changing the way your GNOME desktop looks and works: start-here: Preferences Control Center (following), panels (page 246), menus (page 253), and the Sawfish window manager (page 254) which you can use in place of Metacity. Much of the customization information is stored in files in your ~/.gnome-desktop directory. Table 7-9 lists the top-level choices available from Start Here.
