Requirements can be related to model elements that appear on different diagrams. These relationships can be shown directly if the requirement and related model elements are on the same diagram. If the model elements do not appear on the same diagram as the requirements, they can still be shown by using the compartment or callout notation. The direct notation may be used, for example, to show a derive requirement relationship between two requirements on a requirement diagram.
