Background Preparations and Preliminary Design Paperwork

INTRODUCTION

This chapter examines the background information, meeting notes, and preliminary paperwork that make up the artistic portion of the research and analysis stage of a lighting design.

In an ideal world, the negotiation and signing of the contract supersedes all of these activities. Since the contract is a fundamental parameter, however, it’s included “out of order” in the next chapter, along with the other physical and financial limits associated with each show. This chapter is presented first, in order to show the conceptual objectives of this particular production of Hokey.
