LOGISTICS

The scope of logistics varies depending on the business. Here, we include planning of requirements, inventory management, and distribution to customers. Logistics people, processes, equipment, and systems are a large part of the order fulfillment process and of creating customer satisfaction. Getting the main processes—sales and operations planning, material requirements planning, inventory management, and distribution management—to work is essential. Most of the work requires energetic attention to detail and accuracy. The work is often complex by nature; however, some of the techniques included in this section are aimed at reducing complexity to a practical level.
