SUPPLY CHAIN BUSINESS PROCESSES
Business processes have received a great deal of attention since business process reengineering (BPR)* became popular in the late 1990s. BPR has been used for work ranging from cost reduction to reshaping businesses and providing new focus. The high-level processes shown in Figure 6.1 were used by a management team to define and evaluate their key business processes. This business manufactures large machines customized from standard designs to meet the requirements of large contracts. Interestingly, supply chain is only mentioned in the business support (10) arrow. Supply chain work is an important part of many other arrows:
