After you have finished your negotiations and the contract has been signed, it’s important to keep a good file on the negotiations. A good supplier file will help you in future negotiations. If there were any changes to the standard boilerplate contract, place any correspondence between you and your legal department (showing they approve of the changes) in this file. If you put everything in one file, your next negotiation with that same supplier will be a lot easier. In many companies, record keeping of past negotiations is nonexistent.
