Upgrading a Component Containing ADO
So far, you have been upgrading projects containing visual elements. However, much of what will be updated will be non-visual components. To keep this simple, you'll just add a class to the VB6upgrade project. However, this class will also include some simplistic ADO code to see how this affects the upgrade process.
Close VS .NET and open VB6. Open the VB6upgrade project and add a reference to ADO. Click on the Project menu and choose References. Scroll down and find Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects. There will likely be a variety of versions listed, as you can see in Figure 7.6. Choose the highest number, which in the first release of .NET is likely to be version 2.7.
