3.0 EXECUTING PROCESS GROUP

The purpose of the Executing Process Group is to carry out the work necessary to meet the project objectives. There are ten processes in the Executing Process Group.

  • Direct and Manage Project Work
  • Manage Project Knowledge
  • Manage Quality
  • Acquire Resources
  • Develop Project Team
  • Manage Project Team
  • Manage Communications
  • Implement Risk Responses
  • Conduct Procurements
  • Manage Stakeholder Engagement

The intent of the Executing Process Group is to at least:

  • Create the deliverables
  • Manage the project knowledge including lessons learned
  • Manage project quality
  • Acquire team and physical resources
  • Manage the project team
  • Carry out project communications
  • Implement risk responses
  • Report project progress
  • Bid and award contracts
  • Manage stakeholder engagement with the project

In these processes, the main work of the project is carried out and the majority of the funds are expended. To be effective, the project manager must make decisions, identify issues, coordinate project resources, report progress, and engage with stakeholders, while completing the project deliverables.

The forms used to document project execution include:

  • Issue log
  • Decision log
  • Change request
  • Change log
  • Lessons learned register
  • Quality audit*
  • Form test and evaluation documents
  • Team performance assessment
