Most people hold one of two perspectives on the nature of crises. The first group, by far the larger, sees crises as rather horrid events, and for obvious reasons. Crises can hurt people, disrupt plans, or even cripple an organization or community beyond repair. Within organizations, a key component of what is considered good management is crisis avoidance or, if necessary, crisis management and damage control.
