The SOFAIR Method

Let’s, now, understand the SOFAIR method in detail. The SOFAIR method consists of six phases of problem solving and process improvement:

  1. Stakeholders and subjects
  2. Objective
  3. Function and focus
  4. Analyze
  5. Innovate and improve
  6. Report and repeat

It is important to remember that the method is a process. Every step (or phase) must be accomplished. You cannot miss a phase and expect rigorous results. Not every project will be exactly like another. Some tools will be used in one project and not in another. However, the primary purpose of every phase must be visited. Just like Six Sigma, the secret to success is in following the rigor of the methodology.
