While playing football for Brigham Young University, I marveled at Hall of Fame coach LaVell Edwards and his methods for building a very good team. I count as one of the great blessings in my life to have been accepted into the BYU Masters of Organizational Behavior Program, where I had the privilege to be a teaching and research assistant to the late Bill Dyer, who in many circles is credited with being the “father of team building.” Bill always encouraged me to write about what I was learning about teams.
