Chapter 10: IKE in Action
This chapter analyzes the interaction between two security gateways. Cisco’s IPSec solution provides a good medium for dissecting the communication setup, process, and completion. Cisco has a debugging feature that one can take advantage of and watch some basic aspects of the VPN.
The setup is two routers, R1 and R2, connected via Ethernet cables and the employment of a simple hub. Each router has an Ethernet interface on the same network that the VPN is to be established.
