Introduction

The most effective method to obtain a finite element solution of ensured accuracy is to create the final model using a process of successive improvement. In this process, the accuracy of the initial finite element solution is evaluated with some type of termination criteria. If the desired level of accuracy is not present, the finite element mesh is improved by further subdividing the model in regions of unacceptable error under the guidance of a refinement guide.
