Validate Scope

Validate Scope is the process of formalizing acceptance of the completed project deliverables. Validating project and product scope takes place with the project sponsor and/or customer. It should take place as each deliverable is completed. It signifies that the customer or sponsor approves and accepts the deliverable. By conducting scope validation throughout the project you reduce the likelihood of hearing, “Oh, that isn’t what I was thinking of at all.”

Figure 21-1 shows the inputs, tools and techniques and outputs for the Validate Scope process. Figure 21-2 shows a data flow diagram for the Validate Scope process.
