Several years ago, a television commercial set on a basketball court in a school gym was running every Sunday morning. The commercial starts with boys in gym clothes choosing up sides. The biggest, most athletic kids are picked first. At the end, two boys are left, one short with glasses and the other a little overweight. Just as the last two are being picked, a teacher walks out onto the gym floor and says, “OK, let’s get ready for the spelling bee,” whereupon the last two boys’ faces light up. They high-five each other and yell out, “Yeah.”
