First things first, what is this elusive thing called accessibility? According to the W3C, web accessibility is a set of techniques and practices in web design and development to ensure that a website is effectively accessible by all people, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities. This way everyone can have access to information equally.1 In this chapter we’ll first define web accessibility and then look at the specific guidelines that help govern this requirement.
