ASP and .NET Technologies
Instead of going to a computer store to purchase software, many individuals and companies will soon be renting software over the Internet.
Active Server Pages (ASP) provides the technology to deliver programs from the authoring company to a specific Web site's computer. As an example, instead of buying a copy of the Microsoft FrontPage Web design program, you would go to Microsoft's Web site and simply rent the program, which would be delivered to your computer and run for a specified period of time.

According to an October 16, 2000, article in InfoWorld, analysts are projecting that revenues in the ASP sector will reach $23 billion by the end of 2003, a major sum given its 1999 inception.
