Diagnostic Logging

If you are having problems logging in to your e-mail servers, with e-mail server connections, or with sending or receiving e-mails, a support technician may ask you to turn on e-mail diagnostic logging. To enable e-mail diagnostic logging, select Tools, Options, select the Other tab, and then select Advanced Options. Check the Enable mail logging (troubleshooting) checkbox. E-mail logging will start after you close and reopen Outlook.

The log is saved as a text file which contains the dialogs that occurred between Outlook and your e-mail servers.
