Understanding Formulas
Every calculation is considered a formula, even something as simple as 3+3. To build a formula, you have to start it with one of the following symbols: /, $, (, @, #, ., %, or =. A formula might contain numbers, cell addresses, cell names, and operators. If a formula starts with a cell address, such as C4*D8, you must put a symbol in front of it or Quattro Pro will treat it like a label.
When you create a formula in a cell, the result of the formula is displayed in the cell, not the formula itself. If you select a cell with a formula, the formula is displayed in the input line where you can edit it. You cannot edit the result of a formula—you can only edit the formula itself.
