Changing Margins
It isn't something you think about every day, but you can actually make your document easier to read by adjusting the margins. A wider margin creates more whitespace around the text and reduces the number of words on a line. And remember, the shorter the line, the less likely the reader is to lose her place.
On the other hand, if you're trying to keep down the number of pages, you might want to make the margins smaller so that you can fit more on a page. When you use headers and footers, for example, you might want to cut down the top and bottom margins to 1/2 inch.
