Creating Pleading Documents
Strictly speaking, a pleading is every legal document filed in a lawsuit, petition, motion, or hearing. They set out the facts and legal arguments which support that party's position. Pleadings are required by state or federal statutes and court rules to be in a particular form and format: typed, signed, and dated with the name of the court, title and number of the case, and contact information for the attorney or person acting for him/herself included. In other words, pleading documents are created for virtually every type of case and must follow a strict set of formatting rules.
