Abstract

This chapter discusses image quality in consumer digital cameras, both still and video. The primary aspects of camera design are highlighted, including system trade-offs and the ways they affect image quality. The perceptual impact caused by multiple distinct image problems is also discussed, including a way to model disparate quality problems by quantifying and combining them in perceptual terms.
