Abstract
Digital signal processing has had a profound impact on the field of speech processing. Speech synthesis, coding and feature extraction for recognition has been made possible by analysing speech using digital signal processing. Improved understanding of the speech production and refined speech processing techniques have led to development of new application areas such as medical diagnosis using the speech signal.
