EQ, dynamics and effects

Before launching into this slightly techy section I thought I'd point out that I'll cover the basics of what are generally deemed to be essential dynamics processes. We'll also look at their associated equipment on large shows but please don't feel that you must have all of the gadgets in order to put on a successful show. You may not really need any compressors or gates (for instance) and adding them for the sake of it could be a mistake, using them badly could seriously impact your gig.
