Biometric Access Control Systems
Biometric access controls are those based on physical or behavioral traits. Traditional access controls are based on three concepts:
- What you know—A password or pass phrase
- What you have—A smart card or token
- What you are—Biometric traits
This section focuses on the last item and breaks it down further into “what you are” and “what you do.” The first concept deals with physical traits such as fingerprints and retinal patterns. The second covers behavioral traits such as typing speed and voice modulation.
