Introduction

The aim of this chapter is to examine some of the current problems in the national or international environment to see whether certain management techniques developed in previous chapters for business or companies can be applied to help resolve them. This kind of approach could be valid since companies have long been used to living and adapting to a changing and competitive environment much more so than have nations. The text will discuss systems, policies, and management processes taking examples from the geographical areas of western countries, the EU, or the developing world.
