What Is Socialization Competence?

Organizational assimilation is the process by which individuals join, participate in, and leave an organization (Jablin 1987, 2001). Assimilation can be further divided into two parts: socialization and individualization. Socialization is a process by which an organization attempts to influence and change individuals to meet its needs (Kramer 2010). In contrast to socialization, individualization is the process by which individuals attempt to change organizations to meet the individual’s needs.
