WHEN CREATING A multiplayer game or virtual world, you end up also creating a hidden social game—you vs. the world. The only rule for this social game is that you’ll never know what “they” are going to try until after they’ve done it. Your only defense is to be armed with knowledge and proactive in development. That doesn’t mean you are sure to lose—it just means you need to keep on your toes and roll with the punches. In other words, security is a word with many contexts and meanings when it comes to multiplayer content.
