It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Returns
An integer representing the size of mc, in
bytes. Divide by 1024 to convert to kilobytes.
Description
The getBytesTotal( ) method tells us the size,
in bytes, of a clip instance or the main movie. When invoked on the
main movie, getBytesTotal( ) reports the size of
the entire .swf. It is normally used in concert
with getBytesLoaded( ) to produce preloaders for
main movies and .swf files loaded into instances
or levels.
