Replication Essentials

Replication is handled differently between sites than it is within sites. Replication that occurs within a site is referred to as intrasite replication. Replication between sites is referred to as intersite replication.

The Replication Model

The Active Directory multimaster replication model is designed to ensure that there is no single point of failure. In this model, every domain controller can access changes to the database and can replicate those changes to all other domain controllers in the forest.
