Designing the DNS Infrastructure
Once you have decided how many domains you will need to deploy and determined the domain hierarchy, the next step is to design the DNS infrastructure for your network. Active Directory in Windows Server 2003 requires DNS, as each domain name is now a part of the DNS namespace. A key design decision is to determine where to locate Active Directory domains within that namespace. In addition to designing the namespace, you must also design the DNS server configuration. If the company already has a DNS infrastructure in place, you might have to design your namespace to fit into the current namespace, as well as configure the Windows Server 2003 DNS servers to interoperate with the existing DNS servers.
