Distributed Generation

Abstract

This chapter begins with a description of different distributed generation (DG) technologies. These are presented from the point of view of their working principle and their way of connecting to the network. An introduction is also given to the load flow problem in DG systems. The different types of nodes are defined and the problem equations are formulated. The network connection of DG involves a change in the control of the system and the quality of the electrical power. In some cases, this connection leads to a deterioration of the quality indices of electric power. In other cases, it may serve to improve these indices.
