Chapter 7 Implementation of Ad Hoc Mobile Networks

7.1 Introduction

Although there are many protocols proposed for ad hoc wireless networks, few have actually demonstrated practicality of implementation and operation. Some protocols are highly complex and involve the computation of parameters that are not readily available in practical systems. This chapter examines how ABR (Associativity Based Routing) - an self-organizing, on-demand and source-initiated routing protocol, is implemented using current-off-the-shelf (COS) hardware and new innovative software.
