It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

8.1 Introduction
A communication network must be able to transport user traffic toward its targeted destination. The communication performance of a network can affect the satisfaction level of users. The ability to send information at high speeds demands low end-to-end delay. In addition, users would like to transmit a variety of information, such as data, audio, and video.
An ad hoc network is not useful if it cannot offer acceptable communication services. Given the dynamics of the network topology, the underlying protocols must be able to cope with these dynamics efficiently while at the same time yielding good communication performance.
