Survival of the Fittest: Why Adaptability Matters
Management studies author and professor Leon C. Megginson (1963) said, “It is not the strongest or the most intelligent who will survive, but those who can best manage change.” This business adage resembles Charles Darwin’s theory of natural selection, which posits that animals’ instincts aid their survival, and builds on Aristotle’s theory of environmental fit mentioned in the previous chapter. I believe we are all fit to survive, and adaptability is one of the keys to survival in life and at work. That is why adaptability matters.
