During the required residency for my doctoral study, I did a brief tour of Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, and it happened to coincide with the anniversary of the attack. During the attack, too many wounded were coming into the US Naval Hospital for them to handle. It was one of multiple facilities treating the wounded. A doctor told a nurse that they needed to start marking the foreheads of the wounded in order to indicate who had received medication.
