Chapter 8. Configuring vSphere Replication (Optional)
In this release of SRM VMware added a feature called vSphere Replication (VR). Although it is branded with the name of “vSphere” it’s actually a feature that is only available to customers who purchase the SRM product and is not a core feature of the vSphere platform. VR allows the replication of individual VMs on any datastore (local, FC, iSCSI, or NFS) to any other datastore at the Recovery Site. It’s a technology that is attractive to customers on many levels. SMBs will be tempted by it because it removes the requirement for matching storage arrays at both sites.
