Chapter 8. Communicating with Technical Drawings
Acrobat 8 Professional, as in the previous two versions of the program, offers the ability to work with layered technical drawings that originate in Microsoft Visio or AutoCAD. In addition to using images having multiple layers, you can also manipulate data stored within the PDF version of the drawing. Metadata is embedded in the source program in Windows, either in AutoCAD or Microsoft Visio, and can be read in Acrobat or Adobe Reader using the Object Data tool.
In this chapter, you’ll see how an interior designer shares a floor plan, which is created in Microsoft Visio, with the client firm’s office manager who uses Adobe Reader 8 to read and work with the embedded data in the PDF file.
